On the bay side, Skaket Beach offers calmer and warmer waters with low tide revealing a half mile of sand with salt water pools filled with tiny fish and crabs to delight the children. Rock Harbor is the center of the local fishing industry with docks full of charter boats ready to take you fishing. Sunsets over Rock Harbor are memorable with weekend steel bands creating a laid back mood for locals and tourists alike.
Orleans is home to The Academy of Performing Arts, live theatre with its own resident company.
The Cape Cod Rail Trail runs through town along an abandoned rail bed. The trail runs nearly 20 miles from Dennis to Eastham, passing by salt marshes, cranberry bogs, and ponds.
